This policy explains how paid Crumb Cloud subscriptions are billed and cancelled. It expands on Section 12 of our Terms of Service; if the two ever conflict, the Terms control. The self-hosted Community edition is free under AGPL-3.0 and has no billing, so this policy does not apply to it.
1. Subscriptions & auto-renewal
Paid plans (Team and Growth) are billed in advance on a recurring basis — monthly or annually, depending on the interval you choose — through our payment processor, Stripe. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. We'll always tell you the price and interval before you confirm checkout.
2. How to cancel
You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing → Manage subscription in the app, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period: you keep paid features until then, and you are not charged again. We don't claw back access the moment you cancel — you've paid through the period, so you keep it through the period.
3. Refunds
Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Because cancellation already stops all future charges and you retain access through the period you paid for, we do not provide prorated refunds for the unused portion of a billing period, and we do not refund past periods.
We may, at our discretion, issue a refund or credit in cases such as a confirmed billing error, a duplicate charge, or a material failure of the Service that we could not remedy. If you think you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days of the charge.
4. Annual plans
Annual subscriptions are paid upfront for the year and follow the same rule: cancelling stops the next annual renewal, and the current annual term runs to its end. Annual fees already paid are not refunded on a prorated basis except where required by law.
5. Free plan & trials
The free plan is, and remains, free — there's nothing to cancel or refund. If we offer a paid trial or promotional period, the terms shown at sign-up for that offer govern it (including when the first charge occurs).
6. Price changes
We may change subscription pricing with prior notice; any change takes effect at your next renewal, never mid-period. If you don't want to renew at the new price, cancel before the renewal date.
7. Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, we'll attempt to notify you and retry for a reasonable period. If it stays unpaid, paid features may be suspended or the workspace may move to the free plan until billing is resolved. Your data isn't deleted for non-payment without separate notice (see Terms §18).
8. Taxes
Listed prices are exclusive of taxes. Applicable sales tax or VAT is calculated and added at checkout where required; taxes are not refundable separately from the underlying fee.
